How am I billed? Is it estimated or actual consumption?

DRWA’s certified water operator reads all meters each month and actual usage is calculated and billed. If the operator is unable to read a meter for some reason, an estimated bill may be sent.

What can I expect my average bill to be?

Average water bills in DRWA range from $67.00 - $79.00, depending on usage.

How often will I be billed?

Bill cards are mailed the first business day each month.

Why am I being penalized?

If a balance due is not paid in full prior to the following billing date, a $10.00 penalty fee is assessed. Customers are responsible for payment of their bill every month.

How do I terminate services?

To terminate services, customers may call us at (406)485-3792, or send an email to drwa@midrivers.com. DRWA will need to know the exact date of termination and a forwarding address for the final billing.

Why is my water bill so high?

Higher than expected water consumption may be credited to several possibilities: a running toilet, more company than usual, water of summer gardens, filling up a pool or hot tub.

If none of these are circumstances apply to you, there is always the possibility of a leak somewhere on the property. Please contact us and we can help guide you through the steps to identify the issue.

Most high water consumption reported to DRWA is found to be the result of leaking toilets. Toilet leaks can waste hundreds of gallons of water every day.

Can I sign up for Paperless Billing?

Yes! DRWA is excited to announce we now offer Paperless Billing. To do so, sign up for an account in the Online Payment Portal, enter Settings > Paperless and sign up there!

What is DRWA’s policy on checks or ACH transactions with insufficient funds?

A $35.00 NSF charge will be added for all returned checks or ACH Payments.

I’m leaving for the winter, but will be back in spring? Can I just turn my water off while I’m gone so I won’t be billed for those months?

We do not currently offer a Snowbird Billing Structure.

I own the home, but my tenant is changing. What do I do?

The property owner needs to contact DRWA and inform us of the tenant change. DRWA will need to know the service termination date, a forwarding address, any new tenant contact information, and who will be responsible for a final bill.

I’m selling my property, what do I do?

If the property owner is selling the property, the owner needs to contact DRWA and inform us of changes. DRWA will need to know the service transfer date, a forwarding address, any new new owner contact information, who will be responsible for the final bill, and needs to receive the User Agreement (with Notarial Certificate) from the new owner before the final transfer can be made.
